show. We start with some big
developments in the push for peace in
Ukraine. US President Donald Trump says
he is arranging a meeting between
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zalinski
and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The announcement follows his recent
individual meetings with both leaders
and could be a major step towards
finally ending Russia's war on Ukraine.
>> We're setting up a meeting. I sort of
set it up with Putin and Zalinski and
you know they're the ones that have to
call the shots. We're we're 7,000 miles
away. Zalinski visited the White House
on Monday where he and Trump flanked by
key European leaders, discussed security
guarantees for Ukraine, which would
provide them with protection by the US
and European allies if Russia were to
violate any potential peace deal.
>> I'm optimistic that collectively we can
reach an agreement that would deter any
future aggression against Ukraine.
>> I think um with the right approach this
afternoon, make real progress
particularly on the security guarantees.
This is very important that the United
States gives such strong signal and is
ready for security guarantees.
>> Zalinski says he supports a quote
unconditional meeting. And while Russian
leadership in the capital of Moscow has
refused to commit to a Putin Zalinsky
meeting thus far, they haven't ruled it
out. This all comes as Russia's brutal
summer offensive continues. As talks
were underway in Washington, a massive
Russian aerial assault in eastern
Ukraine killed eight people and injured
dozens more. Despite that, residents in
the Ukrainian capital of Keev are
cautiously optimistic that real progress
could finally be in sight.
>> The result, I would critically say, is
better than it could have been. Why?
Because, in my opinion, no bad decisions
have been made from what we have heard
for this country and for Europe. The
diplomatic front now looks like Europe
with Ukraine. mediated by the United
States against the aggressor. This is a
big plus.
>> Hurricane Aaron is churning in the
Atlantic as a sprawling category 2
storm. It is not forecast to make
landfall, but it's anything but
innocuous. From Miami to Boston, major
east coast cities are dealing with
fallout from the storm's strong winds.
>> You're allowed on the beach, but you
will not be allowed in the water because
we have treacherous conditions uh going
on right now. We have a rip current
warning. We have rough surf warning. We
have storm warning. And uh conditions
are bad.
>> In North Carolina, around 90 people were
rescued from rip currents on Monday
alone. Destructive waves of 20 ft or
more are expected to hammer the state's
Outer Banks region where many coastal
homes have collapsed already into the
ocean in previous years. So, if any of
you will be near the beach soon, please
exercise extreme caution. And officials
warned that even with a picture perfect
weather forecast, ocean conditions could
be deadly. With Hurricane Aaron's
impacts being felt all along the east
coast, let's take a quick beat to learn
about what we can do if we ever find
ourselves in a rip tide. Rip tides are
powerful currents that flow away from
the shore like rivers, pulling swimmers
farther out to sea than they intended.
If you ever find yourself stuck in a rip
tide, the key is to remain calm. Do not
try to swim against the current.
Instead, calmly swim parallel to the
shore. And when you feel that you've
escaped that outward flowing current,
calmly swim back to the shore at an
angle.

song stuck in your head, you probably
have a friend, sibling, or maybe two
young daughters like myself who have a
certain movie on repeat at home. K-pop
Demon Hunters, a worldwide phenomenon
making history. For the first time since
2001, a girl group has topped the
Billboard Hot 100 music charts with a
song from the most watched animated
original film in the history of Netflix.

>> From your TV screen to the top of the
music charts, the film K-pop Demon
Hunters isn't just breaking viewership
records. It's redefining what an
animated film can do.
>> They're stealing the souls of our fans.
It's got K-pop. It's got demons. and
it's got 158 million views and counting.
That makes it the most watched animated
original film in Netflix history.
>> It's been a streaming phenomenon where
people are watching the movie. They are
spreading it through word of mouth. So,
people have really united around this
movie and its music.
>> The film follows the Huntress, a girl
group by day, demon hunters by night as
they battle supernatural threats while
topping the K-pop charts.

Golden is more than catchy. It's history
making. The fictional girl group from
the film is now going up on the real
world charts, including the Billboard
Hot 100. And the last time a girl group
topped the charts was 24 years ago. It's
pretty wild to think that there has
never been a K-pop girl group that has
reached number one on the Billboard Hot
100 before. The fictional group of
Huntris from K-pop demon hunters.
>> The K-pop multiverse is also fueling
global Tik Tok challenges, live streams,
and merchandise sales. Proving that even
animated idols can dominate the real
world.
>> Pop quiz a shot. What was the first type
of shoe produced by Adidas? Soccer
cleats, basketball shoes, track spikes,
or ski boots.
Tracks. What I'm talking about? The
company's first shoes were track spikes.
Adidas gained international recognition
after gold medalist Jesse Owens wore
their shoes at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Now to an American fashion designer
who's under some criticism for cultural
appropriation after a new shoe release
by Adidas. Cultural appropriation is
defined as the act of taking or using
things from a culture that is not your
own, especially without showing that you
understand or respect that culture.
Members of the group sometimes feel
exploited or even disrespected. The new
Adidas slip-on shoe resembles a Mexican,
a traditional sandal made by artisans in
Waka, Mexico. The designer said he
wanted to honor MexicanAmerican culture,
but Mexico's president Claudia Shinebomb
argues that indigenous communities
should be reimbursed for their
intellectual property. CNN's Valyriia
Leon explores what makes these shoes a
unique point of cultural heritage.

The hands of artisans in Valgo, a
village in the mountains of Wajaka,
Mexico, adjusted leather strips that
shape this traditional sandals known as
waraches.
They're made among others in Rayundo's
workshop who claims his technique is an
old one handed down over generations.
The traditional indigenous sandals style
was replicated by designer Willie
Chavaria and sold by the Adidas brand
under the name Waka Slip On. Authorities
complained considering it to be a
cultural appropriation of footwork.
>> It is intellectual property, Shamon
said, and there must be compensation.
Both the designer and the brand
apologize. In his statement, the
designer explained that his intention
was to honor the culture and art of
Wajaka.
>> It's a great achievement to have helped
the company and the designer recognize
their mistake and assume responsibility.

But this is not the first time a brand
has committed an act of cultural
appropriation.
Authorities of Vaalgo are seeking to
establish a handiccrafts registry that
protects the original designs. Mexico
also has a legislation that punished the
brands that use indigenous designs
without authorization.

Today's story getting a 10 out of 10. A
first grader who is reading above his
grade level just won his state
competition in spelling all of these
achievements in braille. Finn Clarity
was born blind with two detached
retinas. His parents were unfamiliar
with the condition.
>> He was the first blind person we've ever
known.
>> But Finn mastered his braille lessons at
his elementary school in Nashville.
>> Yeah. A first grader read a second grade
passage. Can you believe that? He even
reached a point where he felt ready to
take on a major competition, the
Tennessee Braille Challenge, which he
won.
>> The responsiveness of the first graders
has been incredible.
>> I think they're learning as much from
him as he is from them.
>> All right, superstars. Did you catch
